First of all, would you mind introducing yourself

My name is Johannes and I'm from Montreal, Canada. I'm a

self-taught amateur photographer. Since I was a kid, I have always loved taking photos, but my passion for photography really took off after I stopped drag-racing.

How and where do you find inspiration for your work?

Since I'm a natural light shooter, my inspiration is primarily derived from the weather conditions and time of day, whether I'm shooting urban style, urbex, portraits or fashion. The mood is the driving force behind the majority of my photos. Light & shadows, angles and reflections are just a few things that I look to emphasize or highlight in my captures.

Do you have any favorite location to take pictures at?

I love shooting in downtown Montreal. The movement and vibe of the city always holds promise of getting some memorable captures. Montreal has a great mix of old and new. The old European architecture and look of Old Montreal, merged with the modern downtown core offers fantastic opportunities for photographers of all skill levels.

What is your all-time favorite picture?

I have quite a few photos that I would consider memorable and bordering on "favorite". It's hard to pinpoint one single favorite, but I do hold an affinity for a photo that I took this year, and it was one of those photos that you just "shoot from the hip" and it ends up turning out pretty good. It was in an alleyway next to a hotel in Old Montreal, on a cold, damp day. It had been raining the previous 3 days and there were no shortage of large puddles to choose from in order to get a nice reflection shot.
