I am a sneakerhead episode 95 - @Jaacklow
Hi guys my name is Jack Low, and I live in Dundee, Scotland.
I’ve been into sneakers for roughly 3 years. I’ve always been into fashion and trying to keep up with the latest trend, my obsession started when Nike re-released the Air Huarache in the ‘Scream Green’ colour way, everytime I wore them I got compliments. Thats when I started to realise people actually pay attention to what is on my feet, from then onwards I’ve collected a massive amount of different brands.
Adidas have definitely had a massive come up recently, with collaborations from Pharrell Williams, Kanye West and Palace. But over-all, Asics is my favourite brand. I got into Asics when they launched the 25th anniversary pack. From then I have mainly collected Asics, locating older grails is really hard but definitely worth the hunt in the end. Their use of premium materials is what mainly attracts me, along with comfort. I was also lucky enough to win a pair of Monkey Time GLV ‘Sandlayers’ from END. Clothing for free!
There is a few different things I like about sneakers, but my over-all favourite thing is the community. I’ve never met a stubborn sneakerhead in my life. Everyone is willing to help each other, whether it is using a certain filter for Instagram, or to locate a grail. I have met so many new people due to us both being into sneakers, there isn’t a lot of interest throughout Dundee in sneakers. The majority of people are interested in football and other things, while I am interested in photographing shoes. So travelling up to Aberdeen & Glasgow to meet up with people with the same interest as me has sort of became a routine.
Choosing my top pairs has always been a hard decision, but my top 3 in my collection has to be:
Supreme x Air Max 98 - Snakeskin (I know I’m a hype beast)
Ronnie Fieg x Asics - Sage
Hanon x Diadora - InterCity
There will always be grails that will be hard to track down, so my top 3 sneakers that I don’t currently own are:
Ronnie Fieg x Asics - Flamingo
Patta x Vans - Mean Eyed Cat
Ronnie Fieg x Asics - Leatherback
Overall, I think the sneaker community is in a great position in 2016. The community is growing everyday and new collaborations are releasing every-other week. But at the end of the day, wear what you like! Whether it is a collaboration or a GR. If you like it, wear it. - I would like to thank Oliver Berg for giving me the opportunity to write about my views on the sneaker community. Picture taken by @declanhebden. Thanks for reading.
